Cleaned and Rearranged

So cleaned out the piggies yesterday.

Took the older boy pups out and put them up with Boy and Daisy. They were unappreciative of that but I don't need them breeding their moms!

Hoping to send them to pet stores this coming week or sell them privately. Have to wait and see.

Using a new litter with them. Feed store can't get in lumber shavings so I'm using this pelleted stuff. not sure how it will work out, so far seems okay. If I get less stuff shooting out of the cages... all the better!

Will be bringing in a couple more water bottles as well. Rather much filling them a couple times a day.

Have also switched them to being on rabbit feed as I've found vitamin c for them. This will make them cheaper to raise and feed. Debating getting rid of them all this summer though. Pigs don't pay for themselves. Might keep one for Justin (one of what he calls the rainbow ones). Will have to see.

Debated getting rid of them before and I've ended up with five girls and one boy. Go figure that!

Ellie Mae has her pups - January 3

Three pups born to Ellie Mae.

Must be something in the air that most of my piggies have had three pups each (just one with four).

Too many piggies crowding this house! :)

moved some bunnies around

So Carmen was getting a little crowded with her gang of babies, Midnight was getting fed up with hers so I moved some babies around. Carmen's and Midnight's got divided up into girl and boy bunny pens. Carmen was moved into Midnight's cage, Midnight into Bounce's and Bounce into Carmens. Bounce is due Jan 17 so this gives her lots of time to just chill out in her new accommodations, and the moving to different cages should help two does to dry up quickly.

Next Saturday Midnight will be finding a new home. Hopefully this weekend Markel will as well. Then I'll have additional cage space INSIDE the tent for growing babies.

Hoping that my Mississauga people will come out tonight for that white bunny the girl has been asking for. I'm not holding out complete hope, but I am hoping. :)

Justin made me smile yesterday.... as he noticed NN Easter was building a nest. Boy oh boy....over the top excitement. He had to give her hay and straw. NN Easter is a darling of a rabbit. She even grabbed the hay and straw right out of his hands...at one point grabbing his mitten which resulted in peals of laughter and "no, new new easter...that my mitten!". "Mommy help! new easter got my mitten!" A rabbit has NEVER gotten so much bedding material this early in her pregnancy EVER! I anticipate she's going to be an over-bedded rabbit. Not that I mind.

Ah....but I do hope that she does everything correctly!

Ivory Kindles and Dies - Dec 22

Ivory, my blind mini rex has been causing me to be concerned about her for the past two weeks.

This morning found one dead kit on the wire, and she had another while I did chores. Stuck that one in with Ruby's kits to stay warm. Noted that Ivory was doing a lot of circling behaviour, bleeding copiously and just not looking good.

Went to the house to wash my hands so I could see if perhaps she had a stuck kit, when I got back she was lying down looking like she was dying.

Dispatched her and found one VERY large kit inside, and a ruptured tummy. Pulled six kits out of her living. Stuck them in with Ruby. On December 23 brought those kits to Jesse's as he had two does that had kindled and I figured this would give them a fighting chance. Five kits at Jesse's. Of those five I think three? are still alive. I had hoped to put them with Roxie but Roxie was full up with the number of kits that she had already.

All the kits are dark...so expecting blacks or blues. Will have to wait and see what she has. Have told Jesse if he wants to keep one he can. He may or may not, he's yet to decide what he'd like to do.
