Shine

This girlie was due September 8 to Simon.

She laboured overnight, ended up with one large dead kit late september 9.

She still didn't look right and had Major mega attitude, so September 10 kicked her out on grass in a double ex-pen for lots of exercise. In the early evening she delivered another very large kit and one normal sized kit, both DOA. Once delivered her mega attitude disappeared. Hopefully to resume being a normal attitudinal doe.

had three more DOA kits overnight of September 10.

This would have been a good sized litter for this young doe. We'll give her another shot with a smaller breed buck and see how that works for her.

Ten popples born.

Popples is a term of endearment for kits used by various rabbit breeders. it's a term started by folks at homesteadingtoday.com.

Look to be all black, may contain surprises.

at five days post birth looks like some chinchilla or chestnuts may be showing up in the litter!

Star - August 13 and 14

One singleton kit, newly born found on the wire at 730 p.m.

Fostered to Kinnie, it is a rather small kit.

August 14 came into the tent to see Star frantically making a nest. Makes me wonder if more kits are on the way.

August 14, seven more kits born. One DOA (very tiny). So six kits. Helped her make a better nest (not one made out of corn) :)

Bonus...at this point she's not as nasty as she was last litter. YEAH!!!!!

Star is looking a bit rough - August 15, lost four of her kits. Fostered out the remaining two that she had with her to Kinnie. Moved the kits that Kinnie was fostering for Carrie back their own momma.
